As the Slovak national anthem goes, “Above the Tatras, lightning flashes, thunder fiercely roars...” — that was exactly the kind of weather that greeted us upon our arrival on Thursday evening. Fortunately, everything changed afterwards.
This time, our latest training camp took us to Slovakia, to the city of Martin, where we were welcomed on Friday morning by absolutely beautiful spring weather that stayed with us until departure. A fantastic rubble training site awaited us, allowing us to thoroughly practice everything related to emergency and disaster-response situations, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
A particularly unusual feature was the obedience training field, bordered by a cycling path and even adjoining an animal enclosure on one side. In cooperation with Slovak dog handlers, we also managed to fit certification tests into the camp schedule. Special congratulations go to our members Hanička and Vendy for their remarkable training progress.
It was certainly a long journey to Martin, but this spring training session in such beautiful surroundings and with such a great group of people was absolutely worth it. A huge thank you to everyone for their approach, and especially to Palo and Zuzka for their hospitality and for providing the facilities. We are certain this was not our last visit to Martin!
