We approached the December training camp as an off-site event and left our home base, Londonka. The change of environment allowed us to try out new terrains and provide both handlers and their canine partners with valuable new experience.
Saturday was dedicated to the rubble training site in Chbany, where we scheduled intensive training focused on the individual needs of both handlers and dogs, as well as work in open spaces combined with long-distance indication.
On Sunday, we moved to a former factory near Prague. Although the terrain itself was not physically demanding, the dim light to complete darkness made it much more challenging. It was here that handlers truly had to put their “brainpower” to the test. 🧠Scent behaves very differently in enclosed rooms and buildings than in open rubble, and correctly reading both the dog and the environment is crucial.
It is important to constantly remember that a proper search and rescue team (handler & dog) must be prepared for anything in order to be as effective as possible in real deployments. And that is exactly the direction we want to keep moving in. 💪🐾
The Christmas atmosphere reached even our rubble sites, especially thanks to Vendy and Radek, who prepared beautiful gingerbread cookies with our logo 🙂Thank you very much, and we wish everyone a wonderful and peaceful Christmas! ❄️🎄❄️
